Our third annual charity Golf tournament, held on August 24, 2014, kicked off to a rousing response from golfers in the Charlotte area. The tournament was held at the prestigious Golf Club at Ballantyne, a championship PGA golf course.
'Birdie Bandits' Jagi Natarajan, Hary Diehl and Hrishikesh Mohan teamed up with Narayan Mohan (an upcoming junior golfer, who recently won 4th place in the 2014 World Junior Championship for boys under 11) to fire a fifteen under par with two eagles and eleven birdies, taking the top honors at the 2014 Sangamithra Charity Golf Tournament held on August 24th, at The Golf Club at Ballantyne in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Flocked by convocation of Eagles and birdies scored on the field, the beautiful afternoon at the Ballantyne club saw the local golfers, grouped into 8 foursomes; take on the par 71 PGA Championship course, to raise funds for Sangamithra Foundation, a non-profit, tax exempt organization that extends help to underprivileged communities around the world.
With the format being Captain's Choice, where the best shot and score is recorded for the team on each hole, the 'Ringers', Darrell Atkinson, Mark Smith, Robert Lawson and Tom Lee made a whopping fourteen birdies and finished at second place.
The 'Patel Brothers' team comprising of Bimal Patel, Jason Fraser, Tony Blomkvist and Jason Kemp finished 3rd by carding ten birdies.
