The potential benefits of improving the spaces where education is provided can be sizeable, including safer and healthier environments for children, and better learning outcomes. Recent studies have shown that students’ performance is enhanced in schools with better physical learning environments.

Help to build better school infrastructure
Since our inception in 2010, Sangamithra Foundation has been committed to supporting programs that improve the quality of infrastructure in schools located in economically disadvantaged regions. Here are some of the projects that we have implemented over the years:
- Set up a water filtration plant at the SNM Lower Primary School so that children at this school could have access to clean drinking water.2012
- Donated beds to an Anganwadi school in India for the children of the school to have a clean and safe place for their afternoon naps. Anganwadi’s are an initiative of the Government of India’s Child Development Services to combat childhood hunger and malnutrition. These day-care centers for children aged 1 to 5 years cater to families facing severe financial hardship. 2012
- Donated sewing machines to the Vivekananda Tribal Residential School to set up a sewing and tailoring unit for girls at the school. This tailoring unit teaches girls at the school a new skill that puts them on the path to independence and self-sufficiency. 2013
- Donated new school supplies to children at a home for orphaned and abandoned children in Uganda. 2014
- Donated books to rebuild a school library that was destroyed by floods in Kashmir. 2015
- Donated to construct a new building for a school in Tamil Nadu for underprivileged children. 2015
- Donated a Smart Board and equipment to a school for underprivileged children in Kerala. 2018
- Donated Mobile Phones to deserving students at the VDU Primary School in Kerala to help them attend online classes during the COVID-19 pandemic enforced lockdown. 2021
